Trinity Cinema started in May 2024 with a free family screening of WONKA. Since then, a further 9 films have been screened FREE of charge.

It is illegal to show films or TV shows in a public space without licensed permission from the copyright owner, whether you sell tickets or allow FREE ENTRY

Thanks to several funders, we were able to offer free entry and free refreshments at all our cinema screenings in 2024, which brought people of all ages together. Our films ranged from blockbuster WICKED to classics like CASABLANCA (screened in honour of The Longest Yarn Exhibition commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings).

The cost of screening a film remains very high due to film licensing fees. A Single Title Screening Licence costs over £160, and allows you to show a film just once, and does not allow you to charge admission. This makes screening films free of charge a challenge, especially without some kind of subsidy or funding. The Trinity Cinema volunteers are busy applying for grants, and are planning more movie mayhem for all to enjoy.
